A follow-up tweet announced that the original will be receiving a physical version that’s set to be released on September 30th. That last bit might sound a little strange since the first game never had a physical release on the Nintendo Switch console and at best was included as a digital code along with physical copies of Bayonetta 2. Nintendo also announced on their Twitter accounts that there will be a physical special edition called the “Trinity Masquerade Edition.” It comes with the physical game, a 200-page art book, and three alternate art covers for physical cases of each game. A tweet from Platinum Games showed off the Naive Angel Mode, which adds more clothing in moments where Bayonetta looks her most risque. There’s talk of different worlds, an “alphaverse”, and it even appears that there are different Bayonettas as further hinted in a Nintendo news article. If you’ve played the first two games then the idea of a multiverse doesn’t seem too out of place, although this time around it might just be a much bigger plot point. ![]() It seems like we may also be getting a multiverse story with this entry. She will also be playable and features her own distinct playstyle to help take on the man-made Homunculi enemies that were similarly shown off in the last trailer. We also learn that the katana-wielding character from the end of the previous trailer is named Viola and can summon a Cheshire cat-like monster. The gameplay looks as fun and over-the-top as previous games have and features a lot of the Demon Masquerade ability that allows Bayonetta to channel whichever demon is linked to the weapon she’s using. ![]() There’s a lot to take from the trailer, but still not enough shown to know just exactly what is going on.
